In my book, Eating for Energy, I give you 120 raw food diet recipes that take less than 10 minutes to prepare. The reason for this is that although there are tons of great raw recipes out there, too many of them take far too long to prepare. I don't know about you but I don't 24-48 hours to sit around and wait for my dinner to dehydrate!
I'm all about fresh, convenient, and good-tasting recipes. And if you're like me, you'd rather have recipes that you can quickly prepare that provide energizing nutrition, right? Otherwise, why would you be searching for raw food recipes in the first place?
So with that been said, below is a list of some of my favourite raw food diet recipes. Don't tell anyone, but these are directly from the pages of Eating for Energy. Give them a shot and watch how little time they take they prepare.
Nori Wrap
This is one of my all-time favourite wraps. It’s so easy to prepare and it’s packed full of nutrients and great taste. Makes 6 wraps (1-2 servings).
6 sheets of Nori
1 avocado, thinly sliced
1 mango, thinly sliced
1 cup alfalfa sprouts
¼ cucumber, thinly sliced
½ sprouted grain/legume of choice (optional)
4 radishes, sliced (optional)
1. Lay out 1 sheet of Nori and place within it a desired amount of each ingredient.
2. Roll Nori (with ingredients inside) up into a wrap and enjoy.
3. You can also use any of the sauces, dips, or dressings (described later) for added flavour.
Hummus
This is a great dip for your favourite veggies. High in calcium, protein, and great in taste. Makes about 4 cups.
2 cups chickpeas, sprouted (you can even use sprouted lentils instead)
4 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup raw tahini (ground sesame)
Juice of 2 lemons
1 cup parsley, chopped
2-3 tbsp olive oil
Sea salt to taste
Pinch of paprika (for garnish)
1. In a food processor, pulse all ingredients until smooth and creamy.
2. Top with a pinch of paprika and serve.
Marinated Broccoli
Serves 2 to 4
1 head broccoli, stems removed
2 tbsp Braggs
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger, minced
½ tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp agave nectar
2 tbsp sesame seeds
1. Chop the broccoli into bite size pieces (with the stems removed).
2. In a separate bowl, mix together all other ingredients and then drizzle over the broccoli.
Yerry and Yammy’s Green Juice
I named this one after my girlfriend and mine’s nicknames and because we tend to drink this when we just feel like an onslaught of pure alkalinity. This is a very detoxifying juice which can be used after a day of “not-so-good” eating. Serves 1 to 2.
4 stalks of kale
4 stalks of collard greens
2 leaves of swiss chard
1 handful of spinach
1 cucumber
2 stalks celery
1 pear
1. Place all ingredients through a juicer and drink promptly.
Sunrise Smoothie
Serves 1 to 2
1 banana
1 cup freshly squeezed O.J. (roughly 2-3 oranges)
1 cup strawberries
1 tbsp flax oil
1. Using a citrus juicer, juice oranges
2. All orange juice and all other ingredients into a blender and process until smooth
